On February 26, 2015, Marcus and Pamela Anast, owners of The Sarasota Collection Home Store at 622 Central Avenue sponsored a private party at their business location. Gamma Xi Boulé of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity recently commemorated our 20th anniversary. Gamma Xi Boulé was chartered in Sarasota in March 1995, and Gamma Xi Boulé Foundation was founded in 2001. Our foundation is a 501 (c) 3 tax exempt organization dedicated to encouraging excellence in education and providing local support to underserved youngsters. We have awarded over $40,000 in scholarships to 44 African American students, many of whom were first generation college students.
Proceeds from our 20th anniversary celebration enabled our foundation to continue to provide scholarships to underserved, first generation African American college students and expand our ‘Journey To Success’ mentoring program. Our 20th Anniversary Celebration was held on April 10, 2015 at the beautiful Lakewood Ranch Country Club. Mr. William Church, Executive Editor of the Herald Tribune Media Group and Ms. Carolyn Mason, Sarasota County Commissioner were recognized for their service to the Sarasota community. We also honored the founders of Gamma Xi Boulé.
The principal speaker for the event was Grand Sire Archon Mr. James O. Cole, Esq. Mr. Cole, a Harvard Law School graduate, is a former Senior Executive with Auto Nation, Inc. and The Clorox Company.
We thank all who attended or supported us in making our event a huge success!

Sarasota, Fla. – June 8, 2023 – Gamma Xi Boulé has received a grant from Bank of America to advance its “Journey To Success” social action programs for underserved communities, specifically its summer internship program. Gamma Xi is involved in a number of beneficial programs for underserved students as part of its “Journey To Success” initiative, including:
· A career-focused Speakers Program at local high schools,
· A professional-focused internship program for local high school students,
· A scholarship program for promising local high school students,
· A college study abroad program,
· Good citizenship programs and more.
Gamma Xi’s student internship program has been one of its most successful and impactful programs, and it was expanded to the summer months, with Bank of America being the catalyst and supporter of the summer internship program for the past three years. That support continues for the summer of 2023 with a $30,000 grant to Gamma Xi, which was presented by Erik Vatter (President, Bank of America Sarasota/Manatee), Jamie Kahns (Market Executive, Bank of America Sarasota/Manatee), and Greg Parris (Sr, Vice President, Bank of America Finance Operations). The celebration was held June 1, 2023, at the West Coast Black Theatre Troupe facilities in the historically Black area of Sarasota known as “Newtown” (a community served by Gamma Xi programs).
By partnering with Gamma Xi on “Journey To Success,” Bank of America is providing essential financial support to underserved Sarasota-Manatee students who are working to receive a quality education and contribute to their local community. The funding will help these students achieve long-term success both inside and outside of the classroom by providing scholarships, extracurricular programs, and mentorship opportunities. Gamma Xi’s “Journey To Success” program is just one of 12 Sarasota-Manatee nonprofits the bank is supporting in the first round of economic mobility grants awarded to local nonprofits throughout the year, helping the bank drive meaningful and sustainable progress to help tackle society’s biggest challenges.
“Partnering with ‘Journey To Success’ to create effective academic programs for students in need is part of our commitment to fostering economic mobility and equitable progress,” said Erik Vatter, president, Bank of America Sarasota-Manatee. “Providing this funding to Gamma Xi demonstrates how we are taking steps to address economic inequality in our Sarasota – Manatee community.”
As Gamma Xi broadens its programs, it is honored to have Bank of America continue to be an active advocate of Gamma Xi’s mission to encourage excellence in education and provide youth development programs for underserved students.
